Geochemistry Symposium is a scientific event organized every even-numbered calendar year by Geological Engineering departments or centers in universities. It was initiated as the 1st Geochemistry Symposium in 2004 under the leadership of Yılmaz SAVAŞÇIN, Prof. Dr. Selçuk TOKEL, Prof. Dr. Kadir SARIİZ and Prof. Dr. Şeref GÜÇER. It was hosted by TÜBİTAK BUTAL Bursa Facility in 2004, 2006 and 2008, Fırat University in 2010, Pamukkale University in 2012, Mersin University in 2014, Ankara University in 2016, Karadeniz Technical University in 2018 and Istanbul Technical University in 2022. 10th Geochemistry symposium with international participation will be hosted in 17-19 October 2024 by Aksaray University.
At the beginning, the symposium topics were mainly Geochemistry, Mineral Deposits and Petrology-petrogenesis of magmatic systems, but later, due to the wide variety of the applications of the geochemistry discipline, topics such as Geothermal systems, Energy, Paleoclimate, Environmental Geochemistry, Medical Geochemistry, Archaeometry, Remote sensing and GIS applications, Technological and Critical Element Geochemistry also came to the fore. The event has hosted over 1000 researchers and people from various mining companies and industries so far. In addition, prominent local and foreign academics also contributed to the events as invited speakers.
